One of the more technical trails in the area. Only about 8 miles, but it's littered with rocks and more complex technical features. Extra painful in the Texas summer.

Ended up doing a quick evening ride at one of the closer trails to my house and did a test record with an external mic. Sounds so much better! More bike/trail sounds and less heavy breathing. 😅 This trail has a lot of really fun features. I uploaded to Mastodon, but the size and compression makes it barely watchable so I recommend checking it out here (in 4K) if you want to see more than mushy pixelated artifacts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIzq006-g4Q

Fun little ride with a buddy this morning. Testing out a new camera placement on my helmet. Video is a 3 minute supercut of some "interesting" moments. Camera placement also reveals all the dumb sounds I apparently make while riding. 😅 I have a small wireless mic that I want to mount lower on my bike to capture the tire/trail sounds, but I have to figure out a way to secure it so it's safe and won't fall off.

Fun little video I shot while going on a paved bike ride with my youngest. He was on his Super73Kid while I was on my regular mountain bike. We ride from our house out about 4-5 miles to a big park and then back. This video is the ride back which ends up being about 4 miles. Sped up 2000x, slowed to 2x for my wheelies (I have to wheelie every bridge) and 1x for manuals because they are so cool (and much harder than wheelies). 😁

I want to ventilate on how important PPE is since it's the last stop between you and disaster

First these screencaps

As you can see wikipedia clearly states the importance of PPE on motorcycles.
Had my little cousin taken PPE into account he would have survived the crash, given the fact that he had undergone Judo where you learn how to properly break a fall ( he had not)

I'm a PPE freak and use it for everything;
When I cook I use EN388 cutlevel 5 gloves, I use ANSI Z87.1 glasses when I operate machinery like my grinders and drills, along with proper body PPE and earmufs with an NRR of -24dB. Same when I do heavy drilling / demolition / jack hammering, where you need to protect your scrotum and intestines against violent shaking of the machines.

In trucks I have full truck PPE all the way down to my underware, esp designed for driving heavy trucks with heavy loads

If I still screwup I only need to swap out that part of my PPE set with a new one, deduct what went wrong and why, and make sure I dont repeat the mistake

The screencap displays a webpage with a black background and white text. At the top, the title "The 'PACE'" is prominently displayed in red. Below, the text is a reprint of Nick Lenatsch's Pace Philosophy from the June 1993 Sport Rider magazine. The article discusses the importance of pacing oneself on the street rather than racing, using a tragic example of a rider who died due to excessive speed and lack of skill. It contrasts this with the racetrack, where riders can learn from mistakes and recover. The article emphasizes that the street is not a racetrack and that pacing oneself is far more enjoyable and safer than street racing. The text concludes by stating that learning to stop and turn is crucial for rider safety. The webpage's URL is "musiccity-doc.org," and the page is viewed on a mobile device, as indicated by the status bar showing the time, battery level, and other icons.
