We're in the process or lighting up our Thinking Machines CM-2 which uses a Symbolics 3670 LISP Machine as its programming front end. The CM-1 was introduced 40 years ago in 1985 and the CM-2 in 1987. While this CM-2 is a single quadrant, we plan to simulate a full CM-2 and have its iconic "deep thought" lights running. Here you can see our lamp panels displaying a clock. This work was done by Jeff Kaylin.

Gotta love good ol' 1-bit pixel dithering (ordered, Floyd-Steinberg, etc.) 💚

A wide ask here so please boost: my grandfather is trying to get rid of an old business computer, and I was wondering whether any vintage computer people might want it. It was purchased for $50k from The Ultimate Corporation in the early 80s. This ran the Pick operating system, and my best guess is the hardware was originally manufactured by GE or Honeywell. It's about the size of a half-rack and currently lives in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. It has sat covered in plastic in a chemical warehouse for the past 35 years. Where do people usually post stuff like this other than here? Thanks!

Front photograph of the two compute module trays with their protective metal grille removed. Each are identical; on the left is a large encapsulated hard drive. On the right appears to be a power supply. In the middle is a metal drum of unknown purpose. Both are topped by a large circuit board.

Happy to share that we found a collector nearby in Winkler, Manitoba to take the computer off our hands! He has some contacts in the vintage computer federation and hopes to restore it. Just picked it up today.
