I went to a fossil collecting site I hadn't been to in 48 years. The last time I was here was in 1977, when I was 19, with a geology field trip. We were on our way to the Grand Canyon. This is the cephalon, the head part, of one of the earliest trilobites. The rock was laid down in a shallow sea 550 million years ago. Today, the Latham Shale Formation is found in the Marble Mountains on old Route 66 in California.

The variety of size and orientation of these Goniatite fossils makes them look like celestial bodies suspended in the darkness of space.

This week for #Fossilfriday we have another #Guess that #Lego#Fossil.
This one I would rate as easy. This dinosaur is famously misunderstood by the general public..
Reminder: hide your answer behind a content warning. This will allow others to guess without a hint. I will post the answer tomorrow (and to anyone who guesses correctly).

This one I would rate as easy. This Australian sauropod is named after where it was found.

…and they are trying to bring back #nuclear with #AI …
While #nuclearenergy is not #fossil it not #green at all - but #colonial , #deadly & totally unfair because, like in AI, the #profits are being privatised, the costs are hitting the whole #society & the #planet
But from the point of view of someone believing in #cybernetics or one of its #TESCREAL grandchildren it is great - because in cybernetics EVERY problem will be solved in "the future" by "technology"
Google's emissions are up over 50%, Amazon builds huge data centers powered by 75% natural gas.
Remember all those posts telling us that "AIs climate impact isn't that bad" supported by some really funky math/perspective and/or numbers Sam Altman invented?
Here's the actual impact.
"AI" is a fossil fuel technology.
