I've had these #Meindl hiking boots for over 50 years. Bought them with money I made as a kid drawing editorial cartoons for my hometown newspaper. They got me started #hiking the #Appalachian #Trail in #Virginia and #Pennsylvania, and later in the #Sierra #Nevada. It was past time to get them re-soled and some TLC. Meindl-approved cobbler in Seattle worked wonders. I went nuts with 72-inch laces. #craftsmanship #reuse #repair

A friend of mine gifted me a “decommissioned”* HP enterprise server that is WAY beyond anything I have ever needed. I’m seriously blown away. My home lab just got a massive upgrade.

*Apparently it was configured and sent to a client, but it was immediately sent back and never used. Sat on a shelf for 6+ years.

Giant naalbinding needle that I made from the handle of a bamboo toothbrush, inspired by a Sally Pointer video (upcycling, waste not want not, etc.). This size will be great for making netted bags. I had a netted shopping bag years ago that I just loved, but it wore out, and I miss it. Time to replace it and maybe make a few extras, for myself or as gifts.

My family and I tend to "rent" things long-term from thrift stores.

We find something we need/want, purchase it for a very reasonable price, refurbish it if needed, use it for a while, and then put it right back in the donation pile.

Sometimes, they still have the original price tag on them 😂
