Giant naalbinding needle that I made from the handle of a bamboo toothbrush, inspired by a Sally Pointer video (upcycling, waste not want not, etc.). This size will be great for making netted bags. I had a netted shopping bag years ago that I just loved, but it wore out, and I miss it. Time to replace it and maybe make a few extras, for myself or as gifts.

" #Libraries can offer a lot more than just books. Whether it’s a #SewingKit or a step ladder, tool libraries can provide #SustainableSolutions for communities to complete their personal projects in a way that promotes #reuse, discourages needless #consumerism, and saves people money.
"The Institute for Sustainability Engagement ( #ISE) has prepared a printable 10-step guide to help anyone get started implementing a tool library in their community. This guide stems from ISE’s role in helping develop a tool lending library in #KeesevilleNY..."

My family and I tend to "rent" things long-term from thrift stores.
We find something we need/want, purchase it for a very reasonable price, refurbish it if needed, use it for a while, and then put it right back in the donation pile.
Sometimes, they still have the original price tag on them 😂

#reuse if you can
I love this post my @m2m
It feels like a treasure map or secret recipe found in a journal. Or like visiting an independent scientist in their home-built garage lab. Sharing how to really own and thoughtfully set-up a *personalized* computer that serves the human by showing the real benefit of "outdated" but still useful software. And not just useful but in some ways better. Many helpful details pointing the way to a process for folks to follow.

Update. Here's a great example of reusing older #data, this time for the original purpose. Scientists retrieved unpublished data from the 1977 "Wow!" signal captured by the #Arecibo radio telescope as part of the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (#SETI), reanalyzed it with modern tools, and improved our understanding of where it came from and what might have caused it.

Ah, so that's where the old clothes go we put in the textile recycling bin.
The ones that some company promises get "reused" or "recycled". I guess burning them on another continent counts as one of those.
Been wondering what the truth is behind the corporate copywriting.

Seeing how reviving old PCs is a hugely important thing to use Linux for, it's really strange to me how difficult it is to find out which distros works best on old hardware!
People say many things, but it's hard to find real benchmarks. Tried Lubuntu and Zorin Core on one laptop I have here, and it was not OK. AntiX seems fast enough, but unfortunately too nerdy to give to a non-nerd.
A reminder. Recycling should be what we do when we’ve tried all these other options. #ClimateAction#Reduce#ReUse#Recycle#Climate
