@atpfm #askatp Have any of you come across this frustrating bug where the cursor's ability to interact via hover on the Mac breaks across the OS (or sometimes just certain buttons, like the x to close a Safari tab or the emoji reaction button on slack)?
I couldn't figure out what was causing it, but then this @macrumors forum post pin-pointed how to recreate the bug and indeed it does for me. Seems like a long-term but easily triggered bug the Mac team should've fixed. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/found-a-solution-for-the-macos-mousecursor-hover-focusloss-contextmenu-bug.2450307/

@atpfm #askatp Why still nothing about #ubiquiti selling equipment to the Russian military serving their terrorist war against #ukraine? https://mastodon.world/@sommer/115994194499797542
@atpfm @marcoarment @caseyliss I was a little surprised you didn’t talk about the #ubiquiti scandal, that they are selling to the Russian military serving their war against #ukraine https://hntrbrk.com/ubiquiti/
@atpfm #askatp super weird AirPod bug, which seems to have been there for years… we just got an M4 MBA to share between my wife and I. I connected my AirPods Pro, everything fine. However, as I was using them with my iPhone tonight, my wife logs into her Mac account. Then my AirPods connect to her phone and are now in her iCloud account and no longer in mine. My phone even says: “Not your AirPods”. Apparently the Bluetooth chip on the MBA remembers them across Mac user accounts…
@atpfm #askatp Do any of you use iPhone mirroring on your macs? Sometimes I attempt to use it to interact with a notification that originated from my iPhone, but I am always greeted with an error saying that it's unable to connect, that the connection timed out, or that my phone is currently in use and I need to re-lock it. I've had a success rate below 10% with this feature since its introduction, and the only solution I've found is restarting both devices (ugh). Is it just a me issue?
@atpfm #askatp can we get @siracusa to weigh in on rgb led? is it finally time? https://www.wired.com/story/rgb-led-televisions-2026/
@siracusa @marcoarment @atpfm #askatp #followup On Contact Cards: You do know that you can display contacts from multiple accounts (iCloud, Gmail, IMAP accounts, etc) in your Contacts App, right? This creates multiple contacts from the same person, but then, you can link them to appear as one. And when you change some info in one of them, it updates every single linked account. This solves John’s iCloud-Gmail situation.
@siracusa Hi! I’d like to pick your brain about whether it’s a good idea to use
- a dedicated Mac
- a dedicated Apple ID
to host a local copy of an iCloud Shared Photo Library. I recall you saying your wife’s iMac contains your family photos; did you encounter any issues with that setup?
Thanks in advance and feel free to make this an #askatp question if you want to talk about it on the show.
@atpfm #askatp Walking by a Apple Store in Portland before opening and I noticed this contraption attached to a couple display iPhones. Never seen this before in many time walking by this store in the mornings. Maybe for gluing the restraining cord to the display unit? Looks like a display table repair before opening maybe. Thoughts or ideas?
Do you foresee Apple replacing the November event for the A18 Pro MacBook?
Will Q1 2026 be the M5 MacBook Pro?
And with the Air not announced with the Pros, will the MacBook Air be Q2 2026?
If you had the option of buying a MacBook Pro M4 Pro/Max at a discount of 10-12%, would you recommend that (especially in light of potential price increases due to tariffs)
