I forgot I had an active subscription to Horse browser, so now it renewed and I have another year of Horse browser.
It's nice - I just wish it was based on Firefox's engine and not Chrome. 🙃

Perplexity and OpenAI recently launched web browsers that put AI front and center. Microsoft already has a web browser though, so instead of a new one, the company is introducing new features for Copilot Mode in Edge. https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2025/10/23/meet-copilot-mode-in-edge-your-ai-browser/ #MicrosoftEdge #WebBrowsers #AIWebBrowser #Microsoft

Or you know, you could choose a decent web browser too. Firefox, Vivaldi, LibreWolf, Tor Browser. There's gotta to be more, right?
Another AI-powered web browser is here. Following on the heels of Perplexity's Comet browser, OpenAI is launching ChatGPT Atlas. With Chrome and Edge also adding AI features, soon your browser will do all your web surfing (and shopping) for you. *sigh* https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/803475/openais-ai-powered-browser-chatgpt-atlas-google-chrome-competition-agent #OpenAI #ChatGPT #ChatGPTAtlas #AIWebBrowser #WebBrowsers
Google's Privacy Sandbox is dead. It was supposed to replace third-party cookies in the Chrome web browser, but Google scrapped that plan following years of pushback, and now Google is retiring most Privacy Sandbox technologies. https://privacysandbox.com/news/update-on-plans-for-privacy-sandbox-technologies/ #Google #WebBrowsers #Cookies #GoogleChrome #PrivacySandbox
Oh, before I forget, Happy International Take A Friend Or Family Members Phone And Install An Adblocker And Change Their Default Web Browser and Search Engine Away From Google Day 🎉
(you can also do this any day of the year)
Perplexity's Comet web browser is now available, but requires a $200/month Perplexity Max subscription. It's based on Google Chromium, but tightly integrated with AI features that let the browser perform actions based on prompts. https://www.engadget.com/ai/perplexitys-comet-ai-browser-is-available-now-for-200-per-month-180955616.html?src=rss#AI#AIBrowser#WebBrowsers#Perplexity#Comet
We deserve a web browser that's part of and owned by the public commons.
To be frank, I believe we deserve, need, and could easily fund two: Firefox and Servo/Verso.
The "Open Web" does not exist without a truly open browser. Most digital sovereignty initiatives collapse without one.
Mozilla is not the organizational entity to lead this.

Google is working on a desktop version of the Chrome web browser for Android, complete with support for extensions installed from the Chrome Web Store. This is unlikely to come to phones and tablets though, and could be aimed at next-gen Chromebooks powered by Android. https://www.androidauthority.com/try-new-chrome-for-android-with-extensions-3569268/#Android#Chrome#WebBrowsers#BrowserExtensions#Google
