I'm riding a #bikepacking race/holiday in October. Just learned the comms are all WhatsApp-based. I don't do Meta. So, what to do? #lazyweb
It's somewhat pathetic, but I do feel sometimes I miss out by refusing to use WhatsApp. Does anyone use a burner number service for such things? And/or say a Signal bridge service (Beeper?) to distance oneself from dealing with Meta direct? #privacy

I have proof: Even the magnificent river Rhine starts baby-like up in the Swiss mountains. A couple of days ago in the Netherlands, I was fantasising about going to the beginning of the river Rhine. Now I am here. Actually, the birth place of the Rhine is rather close to the start of the river Rhone. Two brothers, going their own way. The color of the water is fantastic.

Day 3 of my #retirement #bikepacking tour on #Brompton folding #bike : Malpensa -> Milano (63 km, almost entirely along the Naviglio Grande #Canal ,probably the longest single paved cycle path I've ever ridden. We crossed hundreds of local cyclists on racing bikes.)

Going up to the Grimselpass and later to the Furkapass, Switzerland, was easy. I took busses. Furkapass lies 2436 meters above sea level. There were plenty of magnificent views all day long. Going down was a challenge, though. I had to stop every kilometer for a couple of minutes to let my rims cool down. The Brompton brakes were at their limits in terms of heat dissipation. I am now in Andermatt.

Today is my first official day of professional #retirement ,at the age of 67: arrival by #train in #Domodossola, in the #Italian#Alps , to start tomorrow morning a new #bikepacking adventure of over 1000 km on my #Brompton folding #bike (C-Line 6 gears). I'll keep you posted.

Went on a (sleepless) night ride for the last leg of my #bikepacking trip. It was a powerful experience, a sort of exploration of uncommon mental states.
Mystical, hilarious, delirious, exhausted – in cycles. I’m not sure the wildlife has seen such a weird human :D
222km and counting !

Mon GPS de vélo Wahoo est mort: depuis hier, il perd en permanence la connexion satellite et ce, malgré un reset total.
Temps de le remplacer (saloperie de société du jetable, c’est acceptable, c’est mon deuxième en 10 ans)
J’hésite en reprendre un Wahoo car j’aime l’interface hyper simple et l’absence de touchscreen. Mais ayant une montre Garmin pour l’apnée, je me dis que ça simplifierait si je passais à Garmin.
@tcrouzet m’a convaincu de ne pas essayer le Coros Dura

We did it!
#iceland #bikepacking I took the bus to Myvatn Lake over some very daunting hills (again, totally right call) and set up camp in the rain. All good now; I'm sheltered and dry.
