Police arrived at 6am, waking children. 8 cops crowded into homes, harassing activists, their families, including a person with a disability who uses a wheelchair. Items seized: phones, laptops, and a Free Palestine wreath from someone's door. Two people were arrested and driven hours away from their homes. Four had their devices seized. Dock workers around the world have a tradition of declaring arms shipments destined for states guilty of genocide and war crimes “hot cargo,” not to be touched by workers of conscience. The Greek state’s prosecution of Bekris is clearly an attempt to chill working-class solidarity with the Palestinian people. We call on all workers of conscience in Canada to follow the lead of the ENEDEP union and refuse to handle any cargo that supports the genocide in Gaza and the occupation of Palestine.
