What are people using for 3D CAD modeling on linux these days? Once upon a time I did this (for a 3D print) and I remember using something that was pretty easy to learn and a nice balance between point and click & parametric geometric construction. I don't remember what I used though. I think for this bicycle restoration project I'm going to have to have a freewheel removal tool CNCed. Should I be using OpenSCAD? FreeCAD? Something else?

After working on it for almost 9 months. I recently finished my hardest build yet. I've written a blog post about it. (Warning, long). Grab a cuppa and have a read.

Having another go at building my #Cheerlights colour chooser that will sit outside on my garden wall for passersby to press to change my garden lights and the zillion others in the world at the same time
I did come up with a #tag for it last time I tried as got a few other people to make some but since I completely deleted my bad place account, I've no idea what I used - suggestions welcome :)
#3DPrinting Box created using my @SnapCloud to #OpenSCAD transcoder and #TinkerCAD
I finally know how to efficiently create decorations that are bent along a rounded rectangular path. #openscad #creativecoding #3d #3dprinting
I posted my milk frother design on #printables for anyone brave enough to attempt it. 😄

Also have you seen this neat little #OpenSCAD program that you give it a list of screw hole locations and it automatically generates a 3D printable PCB mounting frame baseplate with standoffs? It's really slick!
