During the workshop "And what if we cooked with batteries?", @marieverdeil & @dasha invite you to join them in the research on energy, its storage, use and materiality they started during their current residency at iMAL.

We will discuss alternatives to current energy models, while trying to make energy more tangible through playful exercises and DIY prototypes that will remind us what a Watt is. We will collectively explore the history of batteries, discuss their challenges and shortcomings, make our own batteries, and who knows, we might even cook with them!

"The purpose of this guide is to share the basics of installing a solar-powered HF radio station."

"[It] is an outcome of a number of workshops conducted in 2020 in Puyo and Lago Agrio, Ecuador, by Rhizomatica, together with Kara Solar Foundation and the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of the Ecuadorian Amazon (CONFENIAE) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. These training workshops were attended by members of the Indigenous nationalities of the Ecuadorian Amazon: Sápara, Shiwiar, Waorani, Kofán, Achuar, Andwa, Shuar, Quijos, Kichwa and Siekopai.

From this effort, which is ongoing as of the publication of this manual, 40 solar-powered shortwave or high frequency (HF) radios have been deployed in different parts of the Ecuadorian Amazon. These radios were installed by Indigenous technicians and local people from beneficiary communities and nationalities, who were trained during three-day in-person workshops in the second half of 2020."

Je m'interroge souvent sur la direction à prendre pour mon activité professionnelle. J'ai envie de faire des choses qui ont du sens. J'aimerais participer au mouvement des #LowTech. J'aimerais que mon travail participe à créer un monde meilleur pour demain.

Mais je me sens souvent rattrapé par le besoin de rentabilité. Pas le choix, il faut bien gagner un minimum pour payer les factures...

À votre avis, qu'est-ce qu'un travailleur du bois peut faire pour améliorer le monde ?

Recently started learning #morsecode , although it's completely useless to me. Sometimes it helps to understand why things developed like they did when you go back in time, when remote communication started. And I love having a #lowtech fallbacks.
