So, a company too small to have to file accounts in the UK manages to find £200k to donate to Reform?

More evidence that the funding of political parties (or limited companies that pretend to be so) needs drastic reform. Foreign interference, be that through social media or money bedevils British politics. The dominant parties in parliament are too reliant on funny money to be prepared to do anything about it.

A churchwarden from Potters Bar who works for the family of a highly secretive, Kazakhstan-born billionaire can be revealed as the man behind £200,000 of donations to Reform UK.
John Richard Simpson is a 59-year-old conveyancer whose parish website describes him as an “experienced” and “dedicated” Anglican lay leader.
He is the owner of Interior Architecture Landscape Limited, which made seven payments to Nigel Farage’s party last summer. The firm, which was originally owned via a trust in the British Virgin Islands, is so small it does not have to file professionally audited accounts. It did not display any contact details until recently and was almost wound up by HMRC after a tax dispute last year.
Simpson, known locally as Bill, “does conveyancing, but is not a fully qualified solicitor”, according to a Facebook post by a neighbour in the Hertfordshire town. The ( #UK) #GreenParty, for one good example, doesn't accept donations from corporations.

Basically or generally, one person one vote should be how political parties \ policies are chosen, not how much #money an individual or organisation donates to a political party.

A year ago, I began microblogging about my #NoBuyYear2025 where my family made a commitment to reduce our consumption of non-essentials. I definitely can say I am so happy we did this. It has totally changed the way I think about #shopping and #money and #consumerism.

We thought of it as a traffic light system. We had a ‘green list’ which was what we decided was essential and we were allowed to buy. Then we had an ‘orange list’ which meant we looked second-hand first and only elevated it to buying new if we had to, then, well, red for non-essentials is a bit self explanitory isn’t it? Each person also got an allowance that was exempt from these rules.

At first, I thought of posting about all the things I bought each month. I stopped that after February because I realised that the idea was more about what I wasn’t buying and about changing my relationship with consumerism.

In this year, I learned that I can be much happier with much less, and I stopped feeling constant anxiety and stress over money; even when my income dipped to the lowest it’s ever been for a few months in 2025.

Gonna have another post in the next few days about my intentions for the next year.

So, what are your aspirations for the coming year?

Question for anyone out there on the #Fediverse .

Is there any kind of #FediverseBusinessAssociation ? A group of folks pulling to run businesses either on the fediverse or supporting the fediverse or anything?

Right now we're all separated and attempting to figure out how to fund the Fediverse and how to make money ON the Fediverse. But do we have a group where we can all discuss what does and doesn't work?

Gather the experiences of people that have run businesses in the past and all work together to figure this out?

A periodical reminder that the Coca-Cola Company murdered union leaders in Colombia and Guatemala, and is complicit in many other human rights abuses in several countries, including child labour.

And that's before we mention their leading role in filling our land and sea with plastic.

They are quite literally poisoning everyone: human, plant and animal. While making billions and avoiding taxes.
