Finally got around to looking into Emacs Reader, and a great place to start is @divyaranjan's talk at #EmacsConf. Really impressive work! Thanks to @divyaranjan and @tusharhero both.

One of the wonderful features of #emacsconf, is how @sacha and her team don't shy away from perceived duplicates. Two talks with similar titles at other conferences would be whittled down to a single entry (except for the AI track), but I find it helpful comparing radically different approaches to the same subject. Case in point:
* https://emacsconf.org/2025/talks/swanky/
* https://emacsconf.org/2025/talks/python/
Wishing everyone a great time at EmacsConf by EmacsConf team starting today completely #online on the Internet

I have partially resolved the issue I mentioned in my #EmacsConf2025 presentation, regarding the closure of a lambda not correctly capturing it’s environment.
I say “partially” resolved because although my current solution results in correct program behavior, it does not consider let-bound variables inside of the closure. So variables declared locally to the closure using the let keyword will mask variables of the same name in the closure environment. A correct implementation will simply not include those masked variables in the closure environment at all. This can sometimes impact garbage collection, since a closure may be holding a variable which retains a large amount of memory, but that variable not accessible anywhere since it is masked by the let-bound variables in the closure.
However, I am eager to keep things moving, so I am merging this PR and opening a new issue to resolve the let-bindings problem later. To find out more, see issue #62 on Codeberg.
[] at 8am 0UTC=9am CET, ( #commonLisp 's) @kentpitman is going to give a live video #demo of his lisp-style error handling in #python . At this #peertube #live link:
Archive will be up here tomorrow!
We also expect to talk about the #slime swanky python #emacsconf talk: https://emacsconf.org/2025/talks/swanky/ whose author should be on the Tuesday-night-in-the-Americas show this week.
If you have #mastoQuestions please leave them here #AMA (on topic), and I guess #lisp on #irc live. #programming

hey, in my super late (I swear, I got permission) #emacsconf half our talk recording, I want to reference McCarthy's Programs With Common Sense (1958/1959). https://www-formal.stanford.edu/jmc/mcc59.pdf . In McCarthy's the-six-things-lisp-was-intended-to-be-good-at, "programming the advice taker (hypothetical program)".
But I want to tread carefully around the term advice in emacs, which I think has a specific and common meaning; does anyone have a book or link for me to look over? #mastoquestions
