RE: https://techpolicy.social/@internetsociety/115855835480304372

This is a great discussion around #InternetGovernance, the #UN, the recent #WSIS +20 review, the importance of #InternetAccess, and in general about what's at stake for the future of the #Internet if we don't get this right... if you have 40 minutes, I recommend giving it a listen!

“Open Internet infrastructure is built and maintained by contributors worldwide – often on a voluntary basis.”

Minister Wildberger also highlighted how Germany is strengthening this foundation:

“Our Sovereign Tech Agency maintains key open-source components that underpin security, stability, competitiveness, and innovation. By strengthening essential elements of global digital infrastructure, we aim to improve security and resilience.”

Hearing these principles clearly stated on the UN stage underscores the mission of the Sovereign Tech Agency and we very much appreciate the minister including this in his statement.

"Over the past two decades, the Chinese government has been steadily refining their model of internet control using surveillance and censorship technologies domestically while promoting this approach to other nations under the banner of 'digital sovereignty'."

Fascinating discussion at PITG.network with Fiona Alexander about her new book “Geopolitics at the Internet’s Core” 📚

Appreciated her professional take as an insider.

One of the best kept secrets of #InternetGovernance is that there is no way to make any change to the list of the #DNS root name servers operators. And it will not change soon (and this is partly for good reasons).

One of the most valuable parts of the #IGF is the opportunity to meet with the community and stakeholders to discuss future plans for the Internet. There is much more to come this week—let's keep the conversations going!
