so, okay, we've been making mistakes in production with DNS since we were 16, right? we can tell you some stories!
none of them end in someone telling us "don't worry, nobody else understands the changes they make when they do this either".
hearing this from someone well-regarded in our field would have been actively detrimental to getting us to where we are today.
because we guarantee you that for every do-ho-ho bumbling mediocre guy who goes "lol, nobody understands $thing" there is at least one person who does, cleaning up after the messes that this type of fucking guy leaves behind.
so when anil dash, in 2020, posts "do ho ho, i am a #relatable #content #creator, a ceo specializing in tech, who makes DNS changes without confidence, lol but thats fine because nobody does, amirite", we do not hear a story about building anyone up, we hear a story about an overprivileged jerk who both can't delegate tasks to someone who does understand them, and is used to someone else cleaning up after the messes his lack of understanding creates.
and it actually pisses us off that he's put us in the position of needing to explain ourselves publicly, which we are doing largely out of courtesy to our followers who are wondering why we're even talking about this dude at all instead of talking about how great forth, postscript, freebsd, or ocaml are
