I've had these #Meindl hiking boots for over 50 years. Bought them with money I made as a kid drawing editorial cartoons for my hometown newspaper. They got me started #hiking the #Appalachian #Trail in #Virginia and #Pennsylvania, and later in the #Sierra #Nevada. It was past time to get them re-soled and some TLC. Meindl-approved cobbler in Seattle worked wonders. I went nuts with 72-inch laces. #craftsmanship #reuse #repair

This is an Autumn season photo of a very mature deciduous tree alongside a hiking trail. Many leaves have already fallen to the ground and the leaves remaining on the tree are a mix of green, yellow and orange. It was taken on a fair weather day with traces of the blue sky visible through the branches. The sunshine creates an illuminating effect on the leaves in the upper branches. The tree looks somewhat majestic and strong in terms of it's presence in the forest.

This is an autumn scene photo taken along a curved section of a fairly flat accessible trail which runs through a forest. The trail is covered with fallen leaves which range in colour from light brown to orangish. The trail curves slightly to the right in the frame with trees close to the edges on both sides. Some green leaves still remain on the trees providing a mix of colour across the photo. The frame is filled with trees and leaves in the top section with no sky showing.

This photo was taken along a trail in a wooded area during the day. A staircase made of wood is in the centre of the frame, rising up into the background. A handrail with two sections is present on the left hand side of the stairs. The trail leads up to the beginning of the steps and trees line both sides of the staircase. Although mid-October, the leaves on the trees in this area are still mostly green. Some brown fallen leaves can be seen on the trail itself.

You can see the sun having just risen behind the branches of a nearby Apple tree. Overhead, the sky is mostly blue with a few clouds near the horizon. In the mid ground, you can see the distant hills with trees and pastures and cornfield. And in the foreground, thick shrubbery and a little view of my right shoulder and the bug net I’m wearing to keep the mosquitoes away from my face.
