I hiked a large sand dune for the first time yesterday. What a unique experience! Quite a slog, hiking straight up the side to reach the ridge. A surprise with the challenge of walking the ridge— didn’t expect it to be so sharp. The drop-off on each side looked steeper/scarier than it actually was. A fun time! Bruneau Sand Dunes (Idaho)— 470 feet (143m) base-to-peak elevation change. #MountainMonday #hiking #nature

Whitetail Deer rut will reach peak around November 17. It started in late September and will continue until mid January. During the rut you may see larger bucks and groups of does moving in early morning and late evening. You may also see an increase in vehicle strikes. Please slow down and use a little more caution during these twilight times to avoid car strikes. Don't be like the assholes that seek out animals on the road to run over.
It is a great time to get out to see the larger bucks (in protected, non-hunting areas).
