I hiked a large sand dune for the first time yesterday. What a unique experience! Quite a slog, hiking straight up the side to reach the ridge. A surprise with the challenge of walking the ridge— didn’t expect it to be so sharp. The drop-off on each side looked steeper/scarier than it actually was. A fun time! Bruneau Sand Dunes (Idaho)— 470 feet (143m) base-to-peak elevation change. #MountainMonday #hiking #nature

I’m spending a week visiting family here in the great state of Idaho. A long overdue visit— lots to catch up on! Several family members are avid hikers— spent part of today “urban hiking” with them on the Boise River Greenbelt. A very picturesque hike along the river which cuts through neighborhoods and the downtown area. A great way to see Boise! #hiking #nature #photography

Look who’s dining out! The largest animals, by far, that I saw on my adventures in #Colorado were not on a trail, but next to a house in a neighborhood that abutted one of the trailheads. While walking to my car after a hike, I saw four #moose (two in pic) chomping on some delicious shrubs and trees next to the house. 🤣 This is a zoomed in photo— definitely kept my distance. #wildlife #nature #photography

This was my last decent view of the valley in Silverthorne today as I descended on the last hike of my trip to #Colorado. This was a very scenic hike as we hiked partway up a pass along a stream to a series of waterfalls. It’s been a great trip!
