I have released the latest volume in the Broke and Dirt sample, loop, sound asset series!
https://music.control.org/brokeanddirt004/
This is less "hit factory" and more abandoned factory. Slap on your steel toes and mask and come on in. Over 100 one-shots and loops from found sound, field recordings, bad mics on the drum kit with lots of drag, some synths, and much more of dirty, nasty building blocks run thru the broken VHS deck. Ready to use or to further chop, glitch and mangle. Bound to be something you can layer in to joyfully #endirtify your proceedings.
My favourite in terms of what the sound was built from is AmbientWarning01. Definitely can hear that in a game or horror/dystopia soundtrack. To that end, if you want more of something, less of something, alterations, or custom sound assets for your game, video, project, please reach out. I'd love to collab and I am available for donate what you can #commissions.
Usually new releases go out via code for supporters first but let's have a go with donate what you can if you can straight away for this one. Just tick paid and have at it if you have no coin.
All CC-BY. Get to glitching team. Stomp in solidarity!

It's #FairtradeMusicFriday! Here's a new submission thread for February.
As always, submit your own release or someone else's, it can be by #FediMusicians or not, hosted on #Bandcamp, #Faircamp, #JamCoop, #Mirlo or #SelfHosted, as long as it is by an #IndieArtist - it doesn't even need to be new.
Just make a direct public comment (with a link & description) to this post and it will appear at https://isitfairtrademusicfri.day automagically!
Buying or boosting will make an artist's day 💙

My new EP - it's not ok computer is out today!
A mixture of noise, electro, trip hop and dub, made with springs and things in my shed.
As is customary, I'm self-hosting the music and it's avialible over RSS and as a podcast, supporting Podcasting 2.0 features, including Boostagrams etc, with each track being an episode. Either search on a podcast app or go direct to my Fedi server at.
https://pirate.mxtthxw.art/@inpc
It's also available on Mirlo and Bandcamp. It's free/name your price on those, if you dig the sounds then obviously any support is most appreciated. This won't be on traditional streaming platforms because...
1 Fuck them.
2 I'm not into surveillance death tech.
3 Daniel Elk isn't a real elk.
I'm also hosting a listening party tomorrow at 19:30 UTC, I'll link that tomorrow.

One simple change to copyright law that would make a huge difference is making exclusive licenses unenforceable. Here's an example.
After decades of consolidation, an oligopoly of 3 corporations control licensing for the majority of the world's recorded music (Universal, Sony and Warner). If an artist wants their music distributed by one of them, they have to sign over 100% control of their music licensing rights.
(1/?)
The artist they can't apply a CreativeCommons to so much as a single one of their own songs, without permission from their corporate overlords. They can't have their music on BandCamp or any other direct sales platform like @bandwagon or @mirlo, including their own website (a la #FairCamp) without permission.
Copyright is shilled as essential for protecting artists' rights to control the distribution of their music. But combined with exclusive contracts, it does the opposite.

Hello friends. I need work. A. to survive and fight, B. to make space for more art in the face of our dystopian present. I'd be amped if that work came in the form of music, sound design, sonic art and activism.
My wheelhouse is dark and dirty electronic for my personal work but I am an ex-pro who can remix damn near anything and can bend sound design to sonically fit cool projects. I have references. Some friends here on the feed might like to chime in to help my case?
I am available for donate what you can commissions for game assets, remixes, loops and beats, soundtracks, media tech support?. Keen to hear your ideas.

Would you care to check out some dark dance, industrial, synthpop, powernoise, horror and dystopian soundtracks? This is a great time to donate anything at all, if you can, for my always free to download open catalogue [did you see my recent covers album release?] which thanks to your help is growing and hopefully much more this year.

If you are in a decent place and might like to just send a few bones my way. This helps plan my year to not just be more productive and active with my own music outputs but also able to do collaborations, remixes for others, and my general backstage artist support and activism for the bard class.

Whatever platform you can tolerate using, I'll add to the kofi progress bar. I know there are many pressing and apex issues pushing us all for time and resource, so I really appreciate anyone that wants to help us go down with a good angry cathartic stomp. I am lucky to have a secure home but as I've shared in the past, I cannot work in public spaces so I subsistence farm and universe willing, make noise with my friends.
I hope to see you at this years web concerts and in the feed.
Stomp in solidarity.

If you guys would chip in to support it to the tune of about $170-$200/month, I'd move everything to a dedicated streaming server in a data center, and open up services for public use. I've noticed people complaining that there are few public PeerTube servers, and we can always use another public mastodon server.
Although I've made plans to do that sort of thing already, I'm reluctant to do it all here, at my place, because I feel it needs to grow beyond me, to have more permanence.
Just a thought. Let me know what you think. I already have to deal with the data center for something else. This is an excellent value for the hardware they offer.
If I follow you, then chances are I'd be pleased to host your instance.
At some point, I can begin to offer regular hosting, which should defer costs.
Good idea? Bad idea? Comments? Want to throw a shoe? I can duck it better than Bush.

Unstream, the app I made to quickly support the artist you're listening to, now has a Chrome extension! (+Firefox coming shortly too!)
Useful if you often listen on YouTube Music, Soundcloud and the like but want to directly support music and reduce your dependence on streaming.
Grab it here: https://unstream.stream

Fun update: I made an app over the holiday break!
It’s called Unstream: Find your favorite music on alternative platforms, directly support the artists you love, and move off streaming.
It was directly borne out of my desire to get off Apple Music myself, and instead build a library of music I own through directly supporting artists by buying their music.
You can check it out here, at a URL I still find amusing: https://unstream.stream
