* i fake wellness not illness
* the trauma specialist literally said "therapy offers you nothing, heres a bag of chips, you have to go now"
* i made up a "how to tell if someone is a safe person" test, and the forensic psychiatrist i showed it to literally said "they wont be able to lie to you if you ask them that"
* i take absolutely everything seriously
* my life partner says im "tragically beautiful" and i know theyre correct
* im extremely bad at being governable
* i will probably make you uncomfortable and im fine with that, save us both & block me quickly ✌️

I've tried the fediverse previously and bailed a few years back, I'd nuked my accounts so I'm starting fresh. I think a lot of folks have moved on since but I see a few still active here. I tend to mute/block early and often.
I'm a Gen-Xer in the Fascist States of America. I work in tech and despise "AI" (ie. LLMs), refusing to touch it on principle. Non-LLM AI tech is actually useful but marketing and hypercapitalism is forcing the worst AI possible everywhere it can.
I have some cats.
Politically I'm on the left, hovering around flavors of anarchism and tending towards communism. I distrust all authority. I'm pragmatic beyond that.
I don't believe any gods exist, but I can't really prove that. I think most religion is a blight on society and we should stop taking it seriously.
I read when I can, sci-fi and fantasy mainly along with history and political theory. Favorite authors include Iain Banks, Ursula Le Guin, John Scalzi, and Ann Lecke.
I occasionally play tabletop roleplaying games but not as much or as enthusiastically as I used to. I enjoy Cypher System, Dragonbane, and some OSR/NSR games.

but working a boring office job in Germany, trying to remind ppl at work that personal data needs protection and that genAI came fresh out of pandora's box and does not belong in their daily job.
In my free time I #write fic, #draw digital art and #read a lot of books, mostly #scifi. I play a handful of computer games like #GW2. I watch a lot of tv shows and love Star Trek

My name is Cindy. I am a book editor.
After living in NYC for two decades, I moved to Wisconsin in 2024 to become the caretaker of my grandparents' 100-acre farm, located in the Driftless Area. I spend most of my time fixing up the house there (a stone cottage built in 1860) and enjoying the peace and quiet that was nonexistent in NYC. I still ❤️ NYC, but I ❤️ Wisconsin too.
I am into all things handmade by a human: art, food, clothes, jewelry, pottery, woodworking.
