Oh my gods, just noticed how many different keyboard layouts ⌨️ there are in #iOS26 right now. Completely inconsistent! Every app seems to use its own version 🤦
And I honestly don’t get what this whole “liquid” glass design in #iOS26 is supposed to be good for. Sure, the buttons look kind of squishy – and “liquid”. But so what? You can’t drag them around, interact with them, or do anything meaningful. They just sit there. I’m no design expert, but this “liquidness” pretends to have functionality while being nothing more than cosmetic fluff without purpose.
Btw, this is how images with fine textures (like screenshots) look in the #iOS26 Photos app right now…thanks to all those #LiquidGlass menu overlays cluttering the view.
What also seems to have changed in #iOS26: switching tabs in #Safari by swiping up from the address bar now often sends me straight to the Home Screen instead of the tab overview. Either I suddenly lost motor control, or #Apple quietly changed the gesture tolerance. This never happened in previous #iOS versions. #LiquidGlass #LiquidAss
Another example of #Apple’s sloppy #LiquidGlass design in #iOS26: in the screenshot editor, the UI clearly wasn’t tested in landscape mode. The top buttons now stick directly to the screen edge without any margin. Visually off, ergonomically worse. Seems Apple only checked the portrait layout. #LiquidAss 👎
Another thing that bothers me in #iOS26 #LiquidGlass: the new text-selection menu. It used to be a neat scrollable list. Now it only shows three options, hiding the rest behind an arrow. One more tap for every edit, and to top it off, it’s inconsistent across apps. #Apple 👏

Those who try to make a simple or performant implementation end up with something "not quite" Liquid Glass.
Those who try to replicate it 1:1 end up with their computer blown up.

I think a way that Liquid Glass could be improved is having “aggregate states”. Liquid when there’s movement, and frosted (or “solid”, if you will) when static.
That way you get the cool effect when you’re scrolling, and legibility is better when you’re not.
The Liquid Glass effect really only comes through when something’s moving, anyway. When not, it more often looks like a graphical glitch to me.

Apple’s design team has completely lost it!
I removed the PreviewApp, but PDF Expert by Readdle hijacks all PDFs when opened, instead of using the FilesApp, as you suggested.
I’m also wary of PDF Expert due to its AI features I did not ask for, as well as the connections it makes to Facebook and other invasive trackers, every time you open the App.

The new version of Mastowatch is officially live in the App Store!
The most visible feature is obviously the reimagined navigation for iOS 26 but the most useful feature is probably the most requested…iCloud syncing for favorites! History is still just stored locally but favorites now sync via iCloud across devices. The community directory has also been reworked to allow searching by version number, so you can find servers running certain versions

Totally new navigation and iCloud syncing!
Are your friends, family, and co-workers asking you if it's safe to upgrade to iOS 26? My advice is that maybe waiting a smidge wouldn't be the worst idea. I'm running into quite a few bugs, along with Apple changing my notification defaults. No show stoppers, but those with a lower tolerance for this kind of fiddliness should exercise caution. (But I dig Liquid Glass!)
