I had this album on cassette, and used to torture my poor flatmate when he had a hangover with the Beach Boys style opening track, Wake Up Boo! Joel, like the rest of the album is a fascinating mix of 1960s and 1990s influences.

Brit Pop was primarily pop and dull, while bands like Pavement mostly shunned the more radio friendly sound - at least initially.
