So an alliance of 20+ tow truck operators have come together in #LosAngeles. They’re having people follow ICE vehicles around, actively reporting their locations.
As soon as ICE parks their car ANYWHERE, usually improperly… the tow trucks quickly swoop in, tag the ICE vehicle for illegal parking, and tow their cars away as quickly as possible. LAPD is letting it happen, unchallenged.
They’re estimating over 30+ ICE vehicles being towed in the last week alone.
I love LA.

In California, Trump has cast doubt on whether he will approve the $40 billion Gov. Newsom has requested to help pay for recovery costs associated with the LA fires, including $16.8 billion from FEMA to rebuild property and remove debris.

Very important matter to keep an eye on today: #California farm workers will be announcing the dates of a strike for citizenship and basic human rights. We will want to support their efforts and also be aware of the effect on food prices, which will mean more difficulty for many in our own communities nationwide. Obviously, it's got to be done, but the more of us who support the workers and each other, the less pain all around.

The California judge granted 2 TROs in response to a lawsuit filed last week by immigrant advocacy groups. A fuller hearing is expected in the coming weeks, but the initial rulings represent a sharp rebuke of the tactics that federal agents have employed in & around #LA….

In the orders, the judge, Maame E. Frimpong of the US District Court for the Central District of #California, directed agents to stop #RacialProfiling in the course of seeking out #immigrants, & mandated that the #federal government, which has deployed hundreds of agents from #ICE & other agencies in #LosAngeles County, ensure detainees have access to legal counsel.

"Blaming intense media coverage and backlash to the US military deployment in #LosAngeles, DHS expects the #demonstrations to 'continue and grow across the nation' as #protesters focused on other issues shift to #immigration, following a broad 'embracement of #AntiICE messaging.'
"The bulletins—first obtained by the national security nonprofit #PropertyOfThePeople through public records requests—warn that officers could face assaults with fireworks and improvised weapons: #paint-filled fire extinguishers, smoke grenades, and projectiles like #bottles and #rocks.

"One list of 'violent tactics' shared by the Los Angeles–based Joint Regional Intelligence Center—part of a post-9/11 fusion network—includes both protesters’ attempts to avoid identification and efforts to identify police. The memo also alleges that face recognition, normally a tool of law enforcement, was used against officers.
"Vera Eidelman, a senior staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union [#ACLU], says the government has no business treating #constitutionally protected activities—like #observing or #documenting police—as threats.
