Just started reading this after going to a talk at the barbican with @pluralistic Sarah Wynn-Williams and Chris Morris!
Only a few chapters in but so far a really good read! It is about Sarah's work at Facebook as an executive. I had the absolute pleasure to meet her!
Union und #SPD schaffen es tatsächlich noch, auf das ohnehin erhebliche Ausmaß an Menschenverachtung, das man von ihnen gewöhnt ist, immer wieder eines draufzusetzen:
'Menschen mit psychischen Erkrankungen sollen künftig strenger kontrolliert werden. Sie sollen künftig persönlich beim Jobcenter vorsprechen. So soll geprüft werden, ob die Betroffenen wirklich psychisch krank sind'
Mal ganz von der Frage abgesehen, ob das Arbeitsamtspersonal so etwas überhaupt objektiv begutachten könnte und wollte, kann man auf jeden Fall davon ausgehen, dass wohl die allermeisten Menschen spätestens durch die angedachten "Maßnahmen" psychische Leiden erhalten oder sich diese noch weiter verstärken werden, wenn sie planmäßig vom Jobcenter retraumatisiert, ausgehungert, mit Obdachlosigkeit und Kältetod bedroht, beständig verängstigt und eingeschüchtert werden.
Was sich Sozialdemokrat*innen und #Union mit ihrem neuen Hartz-4 auf die Fahnen schreiben, sollte man als gezielten Staatsterrorismus gegen Körper und geistige Gesundheit der Menschen bezeichnen.

After the cunts at Facebook sued her into silence, she is not allowed to talk about her book but it is so important that people do read it! Please consider picking up a copy.
She was fucked over by a contract that stated she couldn't say anything bad about the company she worked at, something called a "non-disparagement" clause. When I say I hate that those clauses are legal, know it comes from a place of knowing.

Today in Labor History November 13, 1974: Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers union activist Karen Silkwood was assassinated during her investigation of a Kerr-McGee nuclear plant in Oklahoma. Her car was run off the road while she attempted to deliver documents to a New York Times reporter. Silkwood first started working at Kerr-McGee in 1972. She joined the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers union and participated in a strike. After the strike, her comrades elected her to the union’s bargaining committee. She was the first woman to attain that status at Kerr-McGee. In this role, one of her duties was to investigate health and safety issues. Not surprisingly, she discovered numerous violations, including exposure of workers to contamination. The union accused Kerr-McGee of falsifying inspection records, manufacturing faulty fuel rods and other safety violations. After testifying to the Atomic Energy Commission, Silkwood discovered that her own body and home were contaminated with radiation. Her body contained 400 times the legal limit for plutonium contamination and she was expelling contaminated air from her lungs. Her house was so contaminated they had to destroy much of her personal property.
Later, she decided to go public with documentation proving the company’s negligence. She left a meeting with union officials in order to meet a New York Times journalist. She brought a binder and packet of documents supporting her allegations with her. However, she never made it, dying in a suspicious car crash. The documents were never found. Some journalists believe she was rammed from behind by another vehicle. Investigators noted damage to the read of her car that would be consistent with this hypothesis. She had also received death threats shortly before her death. However, no one has yet substantiated the claims of foul play.
In 1979, an Oklahoma jury ruled in favor of the estate of atomic worker Karen Silkwood. Kerr-McGee Nuclear Company was ordered to pay $505,000 in actual damages and $10 million in punitive damages for negligence leading to Silkwood’s plutonium contamination. On appeal, the court reduced the settlement to a pitiful $5,000, the estimated value of her property losses. In 1984, the Supreme Court restored the original verdict, but Kerr-McGee again threatened to appeal. Ultimately, Silkwood’s family settled out of court for $1.38 million and the company never had to admit any wrongdoing.

…The threat of Mei’s dismissal has sparked concerns & outrage among other USDA workers & members of the Federal Unionists Network, who argue that the move is part of a concerted effort by the #Trump admin to chill #speech among federal employees.
At the time Mei spoke to MSNBC, the information she shared was publicly available through a variety of news articles & guidance from anti-hunger advocates, think tanks & organizations.
#USDA itself, in a memo dated Sept30, explained that #SNAP funding would lapse because of the #shutdown & that the #OMB would use contingency reserves to pay for benefits past Oct. That memo, however, was scrubbed from the agency’s website later in Oct, once the #Trump admin began arguing against tapping contingency funds to pay for benefits.
In the MSNBC interview, host Chris Jansing also explained that Mei was speaking as herself & a #union leader, not a USDA employee.
