@Tutanota going further away from the android/AOSP-derivatives: another solution is Linux distributions on smartphones:

- I personally daily drive #SailfishOS for more than a decade (commercially supported versions of SFOS even have "Android App Support" running inside a container for "that one app" with no native linux port you can't get without)

- I've heard positive things about #postmarketOS and #UbuntuTouch (but don't have personal experience)

Alternatives to Big Tech/Big Data:

Windows, Apple, Google -> Linux (Debian, Fedora, Mint, Arch...)

Microsoft Office -> LibreOffice (Only Office would also work, but the founders are Russian, who knows...)

Google Android, Apple iOS -> Pixel with GrapheneOS, Fairphone 6 with /e/OS, Brax 3 with iode OS/Ubuntu Touch

OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc. -> Nextcloud, MEGA, pCloud, Proton Drive

Outlook, Gmail, etc. -> Proton Mail, Tutanota

Airdrop, Link to Windows -> Localsend, KDE Connect

WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage -> Signal, Element, Threema

Google Search -> Ecosia, Qwant, Startpage, Duckduckgo

YouTube -> Peertube, or as an anonymous YT client: Freetube and Newpipe

Instagram -> Pixelfed
Facebook, X (Twitter) -> Mastodon, possibly Bluesky

Truly secure and anonymous VPN: Mullvad!

I have been using an #UbuntuTouch device for a few days, which has actually been a delight. It's been really impressive to see how far it's come since I last tried.

Sadly, Signal are arses, and there is still no viable signal client on mobile Linux, so I am with great sadness flashing Android.

If not for Signal, which I need to keep in touch with friends and family, I would be able to ditch Android at last and use a phone that would bring me delight.

as some might recall, we were working on a feature to allow multi booting different systems easily and without any hassle ( partitioning etc).

around that time we started to get in contact with known porters of different systems such as #UbuntuTouch and #sailfishos

after much effort and work, i can confidently say that the #flx1 will be added to the #UBports installer and OTA server soon allowing allow bare metal and multi boot installs!
