@cwebber That’s the #authoritarian #conservative playbook: They break all the rules, but demand you still play by them.

Just another prime example of #wilhoitslaw: The core value of conservatism is that there is an in-group of people who are protected by the rules, and another one who are bound by them but not protected.

Instead of having rule of law, you have rule by law and immunity from persecution. Instead of starting from what, they begin from who and make up the rest.

Government ‘influencers’

‘Lord’ Walney, a lobbyist for Israel, weapons manufacturers and the oil industry is urging the government/police to up the ante on protests over the banning of Palestine Action. Who would have thought it? One assumes those organisations protesting against fossil fuel companies will be next on the proscription path.

From the article - reads ‘However, Lord Walney, the government's former adviser on political violence and disruption, warned that the charges announced by the Met were not enough to deter people from showing support and solidarity with the group.
He told The Times: "This action from the Met sends a welcome signal that there are consequences for Gaza activists if they are lured into support for a proscribed organisation by Palestine Action ring leaders, but three charges on their own may well be insufficient to deter the current attempt to overwhelm the criminal justice system."
Warning about Saturday's protest, he added: "There's a clear attempt by sympathisers of Palestine Action to try to overwhelm the criminal justice system by luring as many people as possible to this mass protest.
"Many young. people, students and lots of people across the system risk getting duped by ringleaders of Palestine Action who are telling them 'don't worry you won't get charged even if you get arrested'.
That's a terrible message to send out.
"The slowness of this process is actually increasing the scale of the problem and that is something to which the attorney-general should have a view.”’

"In melodramatic & cinematic terms", what we are seeing from the #MafiaDon Administration is EXACTLY what you picture in your mind an #Authoritarian#Dictatorship looks like.

"Masked secret police with no identification raiding homes and smashing windows. A scapegoated minority group blamed for all things." (I'd add "rewriting history" & "declaring inconvenient #facts to be lies.")

"Turning the military inward, threatening to revoke people's citizenship & jail them."

So ... let me get this straight. You can't ban an obviously dangerous for-profit activity that's already killed someone. That we leave to "personal responsibility".

But you *can* ban kids from using social media? Rather than leaving them and their parents to exercise personal responsibility over whether and how they use it. You can also maintain a ban on recreational use of cannabis, despite no evidence of anyone dying from it in thousands of years of use.

@strypey

Do not believe this " banning kids from social media" crap.

It's real-ID to use the Internet #authoritarian #fascist nonsense.

The fascists in power everywhere wan to do the #nazi "Papers Please"
Think through the tech implementation.

It's ID or no internet for EVERYONE!
