Kobo is bringing Instapaper integrated to its eBook readers. You can use it to send web articles to your eReader. With Mozilla shutting down its Pocket service, Instapaper will offer similar functionality for Kobo users moving forward. #Kobo#Instapaper#Pocket#Mozilla#eReadershttps://blog.instapaper.com/post/789685899750424576/instapaper-rakuten-kobo-integration

⚠️ Important PSA about #Pocket ‼️
If you used Pocket to save interesting articles you found online, you may be aware that #Mozilla decided to shut down the app and discontinue support.
I vaguely remembered that date was July and had a mini-heart attack when I saw it was actually July 8.
Good news though: if you, like me, have hundreds of articles saved to Pocket, you have until October 8 to request an export of your data (I just did): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/future-of-pocket
Next up: moving to @wallabag 🤗

PSA: (sob) Time to remove the Share to #Pocket button from your websites
Pocket will shut down July 8, 2025.
Which alternative to Pocket should I choose?
As @TechCrunch said few months ago, @wallabag « is a strong competitor with article-saving tools and features as good as what Pocket offers. »

> wallabag.it is powerful, private, hosted in Europe and affordable.

With Mozilla shutting down Pocket, folks are calling for open-sourcing it. There's this “pocket-monorepo” project which seems to contain the majority of server code? https://github.com/Pocket/pocket-monorepo
Some parts are missing, notably the parser, but I've found it useful for reverse engineering their GraphQL API, particularly the public API proxy.
Anyone can confirm what else is missing?
Incident on the wallabag.it service
Due to Pocket shutdown annoucement, a lot of new users are arriving on wallabag.it. They are importing thousand of articles. Two consequences:
- the import may take hours
- our web server may have some downtimes
https://status.wallabag.org/issues/2025_05_29_downtime_happens_wallabag_it/
With the help of https://benjaminoakes.github.io/pocket-to-wallabag/ I now finally imported all my #pocket bookmarks into my self-hosted #wallabag.
I had some issues with links to PDF-files, but after just removing these few items everything went well, the benefit of CSV as an exchange-format.
I like the apps and browser-extensions of #wallabag. Thank you!
And thank you, @benjaminoakes .
I’m trying raindrop.io as my #pocket replacement
With #Pocket expectedly folding like the rest of the house of cards that #Mozilla is, #Kobo readers can enjoy almost uninterrupted service with @wallabag and https://gitlab.com/anarcat/wallabako
