A new blog post - on the mother I knew and the one I never met - I hope some of you find it useful or it stirs a memory or two in you (also audio and video versions - tangential of course)

An act of kindness can live in someone’s memory for a lifetime as this lovely story shows:
“When I was 13 my dad died of leukaemia. Most of my school friends didn't care but one girl, not a special friend, made a point of stopping me in the corridor one day to say how sorry she was and how hard it must be for me. I never forgot her."

I am so sad for Renee Nicole Good and her family. Her life was taken from all of us. I feel a profound mix of sadness and anger right now. I am just so sorry this is happening. Sending love to everyone grieving this loss.

Tomorrow is the hardest day: saying goodbye to my sweet tuxedo cat She just turned 18 (88 in human years)!
She is the 5th rescue cat I've adopted and helped transition with dignity. Wednesday is her final peaceful appointment.
Her health fell fast: cancer and liver issues... Using the H5M2 Quality of Life Scale, her comfort score dropped below 35. Her struggle is too great!
She is weak and falls down when standing so I bring her food, water, and do daily towel-baths. Her purrs are constant, but her body is tired. It is time for peace!
I find comfort in the BTS song Spring Day. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. Thank you, my friend, for 18 years of love! Until we meet again.

I am so glad HFC (Hilary for Charity, the foundation for #dementia caregivers created by Lauren Miller Rogen & Seth Rogen) has allowed me to do something small to make this world a little kinder. It's a monthly support group I lead, "Keeping Each Other Company: #Caregiving and #Grief."
I am also so grateful to HFC for listing my #book written w/#neurologist Dr. Bruce Miller, Finding the Right Words: A Story of Literature, Grief, and the Brain, as a recommended read.

Alice Wong helped me accept my disabilities.
She taught me there’s no social justice without disability justice.
She encouraged me to start The Disabled Ginger and was a friend & mentor.
She won’t be forgotten.
Don’t let the bastards grind you down:
