Something like #Fedimeteo would be impossible on traditional, commercial, centralized social media platforms.

@nick @admin @hamburg Hello! 1) Yes, this is related to snac. As it's tailored to small instances, it tries to increase their visibility and federation reach by sending posts to all its known instances.
I completely understand that it can feel like spam when many new cities appear, and I'm sorry for the annoyance. This "push" behavior is a feature that could technically be disabled, but we choose to keep it active intentionally.
The reason is that this "discoverability" feature is extremely useful and widely appreciated by users on larger instances. It's often the only way they can find and follow cities that nobody on their instance is following yet. Without it, many cities would simply be invisible.
It's definitely a trade-off, but it's proven to be essential for helping FediMeteo grow and connect across the network.
2) I'll think about it, thank you for your suggestion. The current idea is "what's the weather like now? Ok, what's the trend of the coming days?". Then, if people are interested, they can go deeper and see hour-by-hour details. But I'll re-consider it.
Thank you for your feedback!

1️⃣ Is it a configuration option on #Snac or is any instance using #Snac federating this way? Will it stop, when no one is following any account?
hhmx.de is my single account instance, that i use do develop my own #Fediverse server named #Mammuthus.
At least i noticed an issue, as the #Fedimeteo posts shows up as public (and not unlisted). Fixed now.
But as unlisted posts are used users can just find #Fedimeteo accounts by searching for accounts, right? Not sure, how visible this is... :-)
2️⃣ My approach is currently "what's the weather now, and soon, the next hours?" and just then "the next days"... maybe a poll would be a good idea?
Thanks for your reply.

Hi Stefano,
i want to mention two things about #Fedimeteo, that i noticed.
1️⃣ On hhmx.de i follow one account @hamburg@de.fedimeteo.com
But it looks like a lot of more cities will be federated to hhmx.de.
Is this really the case? Any why? Default #Snac behavior?
Could this please be changed? Feels like spam...
2️⃣ The order of information in a post is Current - Forecast Days - Forecast Hours.
For me the order Current - Forecast Hours - Forecast Days appears to be more logical and useful. What do you think?
Thanks in advance for a feedback.
It's amazing how much energy has been injected into the FediMeteo project by @stefano
I've just surfed to the page and saw this enormous amount of Cities which are now covered
Two Thousand nine hundred and eight cities!
Yes you've read that right 2908 cities.
In order to get a city up and running in the system there's a significant amount of code that Stefano needs to add to the system. He has of course written everything in a modular and scalable manner, but that does not make the work any less.
We should all be thankful for this work that is done so that people from thousands and thousands of cities can see their weather right in the FediVerse.
If your city has not been covered yet, just be patient, like me. Realize how much work Stefano does in his free time in an OpenSource manner.

Hmmm... since there is no #FediMeteo for #Meckenheim I have to follow @bonn -- am I really the first one??
