It has been 8 months since I made the first commit for Owncast Sentry, a bot to receive proactive @matrix notifications when @owncast instances go live. I created the bot after I found other solutions to be too slow to send me notifications. As a result, I would end up tuning in to my favorite streams well after they've already started.

Since publicly launching, Owncast Sentry has grown to be monitor 82 unique Owncast instances across the fediverse, sending notifications in 6 unique Matrix rooms. The vast majority of the subscriptions are in @ozoned's Matrix space in his RUN channel, which acts as an unofficially official fire hose of when many Owncast instances go live.

If you want to receive Matrix notifications when your favorite Owncast instances go live, Owncast Sentry might be just what you're looking for. You can get started here: https://logal.dev/projects/owncastsentry/

Alternatively, if you just want to discover more Owncast instances, I recommend checking out Ozoned's RUN channel here: https://matrix.to/#/#the-ozoned-run:matrix.org

@logan @matrix @owncast Logal and Owncast making a difference!

If anyone has interest in #following #owncast #streams the bot has been a great help.

As a LOT of #fediverse natively supports #rss as well you can set up a #rssBot to monitor the unofficial Owncast as well for when someone, usually me, posts that an #owncaster is #livehttps://lemmy.world/c/owncast

Hubzilla and streams both support AP. I'm guessing what Forte is doing is implementing the FEPs that adapted Zot/ Nomad features like Nomadic Identity and Channel Cloning to work with AP;

@tetrislife No doubt I've commented on this before, many times. But I think one of the things the design of ATProto and Nostr get right is clearly separating identity and user data, from apps and interfaces.

What I'd like to be able to do is login to a PieFed or PeerTube web app using my Mastodon account. In theory, doing this is compatible with ActivityPub. But there's no consensus yet on how to transition to a fediverse where that's the norm.

@strypey you don't need consensus to start off, just an implementation in one app, which #Forte seems to be doing by evolving #Streams / #Hubzilla to use ActivityPub.
