At a glance:
There's a repair cafes where volunteers are repairing something you have brought. There are limits either in the size or number of items you bring. Read the small print etc.

There are also some workshops or group activities that teaches you how to mend your own stuff like sewing or patching etc.

Many of these have been happening on a regular basis, either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. For these what happens at each spot depends on the volunteers that show up and their ability.

J'ai acheté ya genre 2 ans un clavier bloutouth Mobilis de voyage pour mon téléphone.
Je l'ai un peu utilisé à moment donné. Et des mois plus tard je l'ai retrouvé avec deux des trois rangées de lettres en carafe...

Est-ce qu'il y aurait des choses à essayer ou est-ce que ça va direct à la décharge ?

(C'est ma faute ça m'apprendra a acheter de l'entrée de gamme :/)

I should have done this a long time ago, but I only had wool yarn on hand. This bamboo sock yarn is perfect for the purpose. And it doesn't matter if my dyed hair stains them pink!

I have half a mind to decorate the top of the headphones with the same yarn, but I don't know what motif... My embroidery skills are limited. Anyone have ideas? #visiblemending #repaircafe

The local library is doing the Repair Cafe!!! This is an initial event. Im hoping we can do something like this monthly once we get it going!!!

Repair Cafes are community events where people bring things to get fixed and maintained for free. Volunteers come to hang out, talk shop, and work on folks' items.

This is a mutual-aid event - So folks might be good at fixing bicycles but arent as good at mending jeans. So they might bring their jeans to get patched and then help tune a bicycle!

While my library has asked if I can help with desktop support (which I'm more than willing to do), I actually really like working on bicycles! So I let them know I could do that, too.

I'm at my bandwidth with creating and organizing things with the Free Fridges and Food Rescue, but I absolutely can join an volunteer on the days of if all I have to do is show up, hang out, and tinker on some repairs!

THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!

Sorry for the radio silence. Just a mix of too much to do and me being lazy. We've still doing two #repaircafes a month. First and third Saturdays of each month. Probably not December though. Well, not the third Saturday anyway. Maybe make the other a specialist one. Who knows.

At Repair Cafe this morning I repaired:
- A lamp by deleting the touch switch electronics
- A blender by refitting the jug the right way around.
- A camping gas stove, user error.
- A denim shirt by replacing a missing decorative press stud using the redundant one from the collar.
- A trouser zip by tightening the slider. It won't last and needs replacing.
- An orbital sander by cleaning all the gummed up resin and mess in the back of the sanding pad.
-A motor from a blender by using an E clip as a bearing spacer.

I also advised on:
-A chainsaw that needed fuel/oil mix before it can be tested.
-A lamp that needs a new lampholder.

I have homework:
- A dining chair that needs to be rebuilt.

One of the best things that happened at today's Repair Cafe was this chap caught me as he was leaving to say thanks for recommending Mint Linux for his son's old machine last month. First time Linux users, the lad (14ish?) was stood there thumbs up and beaming. #Linux #LinuxMint#RepairCafe #repair
