You may remember Ben Affleck from his outstanding performance in "Eurotrip", but did you know that big break was only due to an accident? He was shooting a low-budget and mostly forgotten Bourne movie (or sth, idk) nearby and he just managed to join the Eurotrip crew for a day.

Saw The Ballad of Wallis Island today at Cinema Nova with @NarrelleMHarris.
What a great little film! Just five characters, three of them significant, brought together on an island off the Welsh coast when a wealthy eccentric (Tim Key) decides to pay for a private concert by a famous former musical duo he adored.
It's a lovely gentle comedy which becomes something more bittersweet and doesn't head where you might expect it to go. Recommended.
Do you like watching movies and/or documentaries about hackers and cyber security as much as I do?

It's #Kaijuktober! And to celebrate it I'm watching a #kaiju #movie every day.
Today's movie was: All Monsters Attack / ゴジラ・ミニラ・ガバラ オール怪獣大進撃 (1969)
A #film that subverts all tropes in the kaiju "genre", offering a whimsical adventure through the eyes of a bullied child. Ishirō Honda and Shinichi Sekizawa achieved what at that point was believed to be impossible: offer a fresh take.
I give it 3½/5 Kaiju

Rebel Hearts tells the remarkable story of the the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In 1960s Los Angeles, they bravely stood up to the patriarchy of the Catholic Church, fighting for equality, their livelihoods, and their own freedom against an all-powerful Cardinal who sought to keep them in their place.
From marching in Selma in 1965 to the Women’s March in 2018, they put their bodies and their vocation on the line to fight for social justice. Their bold acts of faith, defiance and activism turned the Church upside-down, helping to reshape our society in ways that continue to resonate today.
TL:dr - Just watch it. You'll thank us.
Edit: We've added the Rebel Hearts trailer, which cracks our heart open in the best way.

Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) is a celebration of Black Joy, Black Excellence, and Black Activism.
This Oscar-winning documentary about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, directed by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson examines the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, and its line-up of iconic Black musicians and activists of the 1960s. The soundtrack is 🔥!

#Watching TRON: ARES
Greta Lee is wasted in an almost thankless role, but at least she's getting some Disney money until Past Lives 2: 2 Lives 2 Live comes out.
A movie you see even though you forgot all about Tron Legacy.

Every single thing to come out of the villains has been said on TV in the last month by horrible people. 🤯 "only criminals and terrorists" 😡 #movie
**this movie is actually making a pretty good argument for the importance of the Latino community to California.

The plot of this movie is all of the Mexicans in California disappear, one by one. (it's supposed to be a comedy). #movie
It's #Kaijuktober! And to celebrate it I'm watching a #kaiju #movie every day.
Today's movie was: Godzilla / ゴジラ (1954)
I didn't expect this #film to be as well-written as it was. All I expected was "big mad dinosaur destroys Tokyo", I got that and so much more!
From military worship to the consequences of scientific progress, this movie has it all.
I give it 4/5 Kaiju

I've just seen the movie 'Prime Minister' - I cried and laughed and 'awww-ed' at so many things. Brilliant portrayal of an historic piece of time in New Zealand, and the world.
See it if you can 🙏
