3/ left Precipice lake after lunch, ran back down to Hamilton lake, and an hour later I was swimming. That felt great, dried off and got a private bivy spot on the rocks off the water before other hikers started showing up. Chatted with some people, most were looping from Mineral King or heading to Whitney on HST.

4/ quick one for the runners 🏃‍♂️🙌

Last weekends race recap 🏃‍♂️
2 lighthouses, 5 islands, 4 bridges, 43 km and 2500 m elevation gain. Have been out there for 8 hrs and 15 min.
Morning started cloudy with a bit of drizzle, turning into sunshine throughout the day. The trail was still wet and muddy at times, making some downhill sections particularly spicy. Struggled about half way with my left knee in the downhill sections, but it was keeping up in the flats and uphills. 1/x

Busy sports summer on the TV…

Euro 2025 just finished (congratulations England, and thank you Switzerland for the hosting), and today the FINA swim world championships started in Singapore (well, last week we’re the open water events - with an amazing performance from Germany’s Wellbrock who won all 4 events 10K, 5K, 3K and 1500m relay) - guess what will be on the TV this week with a swimmer kid, then UTMB will come and in September we will have the IAAF track and field world championships in Tokyo.

Someone put out a full video of the entire Niesen Treppenlauf race. Shows nicely how narrow all the stairs are, and how “quiet” the race is with everyone being focused on their own “challenge and suffering”.

I am passed at around 1:01:00 to 1:02:00 into the video (black short and blue/green shirt - not fully visible). 😅 The guy has a strong technique and amazing finishing time.

Had a long weekend in southern #Eryri and tried to squeeze in some training (i.e. drag people up mountains with me).

- Climbed Aran Fawddwy from Cwm Cywarch, pleased with this as it was the only "Welsh Major"/P600 peak I didn't climb last year
- Did a social run in the hills around Machynlleth, some good climbing/descending practice (not technically Eryri, but adjacent)
- Had an easy day walking around Harlech, paddling in the sea, with views of Yr Wyddfa from the castle battlements
- Hiked around Rhinog Fawr, but didn't summit as the ascent was a bit scrambly and some of the party weren't confident reversing it. Will come back for it!
