Here's one for #footpathFriday. Petr is showing us the way, marked by a line of stones across the granite, to eventually get down to the Merced River.

Stark granite rocks dotted with pine trees and Sierra juniper. A ledge of granite on the right supports a trail with rocks along the sides. It makes a smooth drop to another, larger flat of granite. Somewhere past a line of trees, granite rises again on the other side of this glacier carved valley. It all extends into the distance where even more granite shows the sides of another valley and rises to peaks, all stark white with black water stains and dotted with green.

@toxi From that trip we have unfortunately not the best pictures. I was experimenting with slides, that that went completely sideways. Way too dark. Luckily not all were totally useless, as you can see from this picture. Still not the best, but at least you can identify satisfied people showing off at the front door (after having had some time to recuperate). 🙂

Hochjoch-Hospiz in 2003 with 4 people standing at the top of the stairs, at the front door. The hut is grey with lots of windows with open red/white striped wooden blinds.

So close, yet still so far...

(Standing roughly where the Hintereisferner glacier reached to in 1850. From here it's another 20 mins to the Hochjoch Hospiz at 2413m... where I was the only soul there that day, enjoying true edge of the world vibes. Wonderful!)
