The lilies are blooming.
Poppy and Garlic Scapes
I popped a few annual poppy plants into gaps in the garlic beds. Though definitely not going to optimize the garlic yield, overall this was not a mistake. This morning.
I was invited to make pieces for an upcoming ewer show. The concept was inspired by the gallery owner’s experience beginning to #garden with his family, enjoying the bounty daily, and using #handmade ewers to drizzle olive oil and vinegar over fresh veggies. I love making pots that pour, so the prompt was a welcome challenge, allowing me to combine multiple elements that I’ve practiced over the years. How would you use these pots?
View of my berry box. On the right are newly-planted canes of Prime-Ark Freedom blackberry, red raspberry, black raspberry, tayberry, and boysenberry. On left, in the raised bed, are strawberries (Ozark Beauty, Merlan, Mignonette), and at the far end, Sunshine Blue blueberries. I call it Fruit Knox because the wire keeps the birds and squirrels out. #berries #rubus #blackberries #raspberries #boysenberries #tayberries #strawberries #garden #gardening #fruit
A ladybird, enjoying the aphids in our #garden. Photographed just outside the fruit cage, which is where we got the fresh blue-berries we had for breakfast.
