Oh cool. We just tested and #WebRTC with #Jitsi works over #NAT64
I'd heard WebRTC can be problematic with #NAT64, and the fact that Jitsi has dropped the IPv6 AAAA records for meet.jit.si and closed some recent IPv6 bug reports as WONTFIX didn't give me a lot of confidence. 😟
However, jitsi worked fine just now with one user on mobile (IPv4-only) and another on NAT64.
😀

#FOSDEM announced the devrooms for #fosdem2026 and I have some good news and some bad news.
The good news is that my submission for a #MusicProduction devroom got accepted, yay! Finally #music will have a well deserved place at FOSDEM! It'll be on Sunday afternoon, expect a CfP soon 🙏
The (super)bad news is that they rejected the #RTC devroom, though... 😢 I can't remember the last time that happened, I think it's always been there? No room for #webrtc #sip and other stuff this time around...

Want to send messages and video calls with:
* no installs
* no sign-ups
* no tracking
* end-to-end encryption
This new prototype uses PeerJS to establish a secure browser-to-browser connection. Everything is ephemeral and cleared when you refresh the page—true zerodata privacy!
Check out the [testable demo here](https://p2p.positive-intentions.com/iframe.html?globals=&id=demo-p2p-messaging--p-2-p-messaging&viewMode=story).
I am working towards a look-and-feel to match Whatsapp as seen in this [hardcoded UI demo](http://glitr.positive-intentions.com).
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is still a work-in-progress and a close-source project. It is based on the open source MVP see [here](https://github.com/positive-intentions/chat). It has NOT been audited or reviewed. For testing purposes only, not a replacement for your current messaging app.

Art~Hack went virtual last night 🌈 🥽 🎧 📞
https://tube.arthack.nz/w/wQQFL5fdxq6m36DYMnrwaX
Reminds me of the COVID lockdown days (in New Zealand) when we still met (virtually) every week despite the situation. In those days @noiseissues made Feedhack (basically a shared OBS over WebRTC), now he's made Cyberdoof.
Aaaahhh is it the 10th of August already? 😱
See you later at 7pm Italy time for some live music, streamed via #webrtc because why not?
XMPP is pronounced 'ʤæb.əʳ 🙂
To me,
#XMPP is the universal communication protocol, used for #IoT, #WebRTC, gaming, social, and #instantMessaging.
#Jabber is the latter in an open and federated network.
#CiscoJabber™ is a product by Cisco.
Zimpy is many things, but don't look it up in #UrbanDictionary!
(Btw. I fiercely advocate naming #freeSoftware projects, children, cats, companies, everything, after #UUIDs. No more unambiguousness, no more #trademark issues.)
What do you need most from WebKit (the rendering engine for Safari that runs your HTML, CSS, JS, and more)?
If you are making websites, what could we do in WebKit to make it easier for you to create fantastic experiences for your users?

👋 Hey #FOSS community! Need your wisdom on grant funding...
I've been developing a decentralized chat app that challenges the centralized model - think WhatsApp but with zero servers, complete privacy, and VR capabilities built right into the browser.
🔍 What makes it different:
- Runs entirely in browser (JavaScript/PWA)
- Direct P2P connections via WebRTC
- Industry-grade encryption by default
- Experimental AR/VR shared spaces
- Users own 100% of their data
The project is open-source and functional, but needs funding to:
- Improve security auditing
- Expand mobile platform support
- Develop accessibility features
- Build developer documentation
Has anyone had success with grants for privacy-focused or decentralization projects? Especially interested in orgs that value user empowerment over profit.

Today is allocated to looking under the hood of the #webrtc data channel and figuring out what has changed in the 8 years since I last looked properly.
(Eeek, almost everything!)
