"On Parole" by #Motörhead. This was intended to be their 1st album, but got shelved and released later around "Bomber" or so. It's a bit rough and more punk/garage pop than their usual rock and roll. But it's OK.

#TIL that Jawbox opened for Fugazi as their first public show. Which makes total sense, now that I finally got around to listening to some Fugazi.
Like their music, this album is hard to classify. It doesn't feel quite right to call it punk, metal or indie, any more than it would feel right to use those terms to describe Faith No More. They're too eclectic for that.

When I was a kid, and first discovered all that great Minneapolis TWIN/TONE stuff like The Replacements and Soul Asylum, it got to the point where if I saw a tape or CD on Twin/Tone, I’d buy it no questions asked.
That’s how I discovered Run Westy Run.
Turned out that Green Cat Island was the only RWR album on Twin/Tone, and although I do like the two previous ones that were on SST, this one was (and still is) my favorite.
They never got anywhere near the attention or acclaim as those other Minneapolis bands, but they had a great run, and THIS is their best album for me.
Rock, country, punk, folk… they could do it all. And Green Cat Island is the best representation of that.
