Hey #Atlanta!

Tomorrow night’s the night!

Doctor Deathray and her Implements of Destruction are playing Purgatory at The Masquerade Friday night along with three other local bands - it should be a great night of live music.

We’ll be playing a set that includes old favs from our first album as a band, “51 Miles from Nowhere”, as well as songs from our latest release, “Nowhere”, and we’ll have both on vinyl at the merch table (along with other goodies) if you want to get your hands on the good stuff!

Doors at 7pm, first band kicks off at 8pm - come on out and support your local scene if you’re able!

(We’re third on the bill, so if you can’t make it out early still come out - we’ll be hitting the stage around 9:30)

Left or Right released this album when I was living in Ōtepoti, and rapidly became known locally for its idiosyncratic single Gary's Nuggety Neighbour. I don't know how to describe this, except to say that it's weird, and it's fun, and you could have a significantly worse time not listening to it, so ... what are you waiting for?

#Listening to the Dirty Pets EP by Penny Diving;

This reminds me of fuzzpop pioneers of the nineties and early noughties, like The Breeders, Belly, and Mazzy Star. In some ways, these bands were among the US counterparts of the UK shoegaze scene. But like The Breeders, Dirty Pets has a bit of artpunk Pixies and Sonic Youth influence thrown in there too.
