@dangillmor I guess you know that regional hospital networks have been doing this for a decade or more. Mckesson and epic are the main purveyors of systems. The regions cross state lines already but generally don't interoperate. (And to top it off, the HIPAA stuff is just paperwork promulgated by consultants.)

My view is that most people have no idea what the current state of play actually is.
