@kissane @bonfire oh neat, I'd seen #Bonfire content kick around those past few weeks but only had a foggy understanding of their mission.

This helped a lot, and FIIIINE I backed them (because this sounds great)

I do wish they could get a little better at communicating what exactly their project is though, it took a hot minute, reading, and also asking folks on lemmy to try and figure out kinda-sorta-vaguely what theyre building 😅

@kissane @bonfire yeah, its a really challenging thing to explain.

I do think "both a platform like mastodon, and a toolkit for internet community software" like you described it in your post is better than what they have on their page right now

A simpler intro to the premise before they get into the details and explain their mission & why it matters would be really nice

Regardless, I'm really excited for bonfire!

@kissane @bonfire I use threaded link aggregator platforms (lemmy/piefed/mbin) more than microblogging, but I'm hopeful they can lead the way in rethinking some of the choices we blindly copied from corporate platforms (for understandable reasons, I'm sure designing a new platform is an unbelievable amount of work, + building it all & growing userbase)

I'm excited to be able to make an account in the future! I don't think there's an instance available yet? But I need to take a closer look :)

@kissane @bonfire I've heard about Bonfire here and there, but this is the first time I've read in detail what it's about and what's planned. It's one of the best visions for online communities I've seen yet. They have my backing!
